^ Inventor Fred Morrison demonstrating his "Pluto Platter" flying disc in the mid-'50s. Morrison sold the marketing rights to the Wham-O toy company in '57, who renamed it "Frisbee" after they noticed college students in Connecticut tossing tins from the Frisbie Pie Company.

Morrison, who had called previous tins and disc designs "Flyin' Cake Pans," "Whirlo-Way," and "The Flyin' Saucer," disliked the new name. :P But he won the patent for the design in '58, and apparently remained a flying disc enthusiast for nearly another 50 years. He passed away in 2010, at the age of 90.
