Just one page today because I spent all afternoon playing with a dozen different Japanese erasers, all of which turned out to be superior to the German eraser I've been using all this time. Still waiting for one more to show up before I write my CONCLUSIVE eraser article, though, so today you get more stuff on pencils.

Basically the pencil I've been using for the last week or two is the Mono, sold here in the States by Tombow USA, and quite possibly available at your local art supply store for a pretty reasonable price. Over in their native Japan, Tombow's "Mono 100" has long been the pencil of choice, apparently, and importers will tell you that importing the 100 for 3 times the bulk price of the local Monos is worth it because the 100 has superior lead. This is incorrect, and is based, it seems, on the assumption that the US "Mono" is the same as the lower-grade "Mono" sold in Japan, as a cheaper alternative to the top-of-the-line 100.

In fact, the US "Mono" has the exact same lead as the Japanese "Mono 100," and even a superior paint job, although the wood and printing on the pencil body aren't quite as deluxe--oh and the packaging is much cheaper. But they draw the same, which is the main thing. I wrote a little more about this in my main blog here. Anyway here are the photos--the ones with the white cuffs on the end are the ones sold in the US:

They are pretty nice pencils.

These are the most people I've ever seen Selenis interact with without being in a fight!
