Zodiacal light, a very faint column of light sometimes visible just before dawn or just after sunset, is sunlight reflecting off of the huge disk of cosmic dust around the Sun, which encompasses the Earth's orbit. Zodiacal light accounts for 60% of natural light from the sky on the moonless night! Here's an impressive display of zodiacal light at Mount Paranal in Chile:
