A single quasar lensed into a double image by a foreground galaxy (that blurry crescent in the middle), as seen recently by Hubble:

Researchers were able to use light beams deflected one by one by stars in the foreground galaxy as a sort of magnifying glass to get a detailed light map of the bright superheated disc around the distant quasar's central supermassive black hole, and so could determine that the disc "is between four and eleven light-days across," even though the quasar is billions of light years away.
